Barphone Underground – Employee Lounge & Meeting Area

For Barphone’s team, we transformed the underground garage of an office building into a warm, stylish relaxation and meeting area for the company’s employees. What was once a raw, utilitarian space is now a thoughtfully designed, multifunctional retreat—combining comfort, flexibility, and character.

The space was conceived as an informal break-out zone that invites people to step away from their desks and engage differently—with their surroundings, their thoughts, or each other.

The main floor centers on a large custom wooden table, ideal for both scheduled meetings and spontaneous teamwork, surrounded by cozy zones that accommodate focused solo work, casual group chats, and quick breaks.

Concrete ceilings and exposed cable trays nod to the building’s industrial past, while the addition of natural oak finishes, lush greenery, and ambient lighting introduces calm and softness.

Seating & Flexibility:

A custom-built oak bench runs along the back wall, featuring integrated planter boxes that bring life and texture to the interior. Individual square tables and plush swivel chairs in a muted palette allow the space to adapt—supporting one-on-one meetings, small group chats, solo work, or relaxed coffee breaks. Overhead, angled LED strips and industrial pendant lights define the seating zone, adding a sense of rhythm and energy to the ceiling.

Functionality Meets Mood:

Though grounded in function, the space doesn’t shy away from personality. Neon signs and wall graphics punctuate the area with humor and optimism— “Great ideas start here” and “Every exit is an entrance somewhere else” add visual interest and emotional tone.

Bathroom & Kitchenette Zones:

The supporting spaces—bathrooms and kitchenette—are discreetly integrated into the design. The bathrooms surprise with magenta neon lighting, transforming a purely functional area into an unexpectedly playful moment. The minimal kitchenette, hidden behind tiled walls, supports casual use without interrupting the flow of the space.

A Space for Employees to Recharge & Connect:

More than just a lounge, this underground space now offers employees a place to decompress, gather informally, and feel inspired. Whether it’s used for casual conversations, internal meetings, or simply taking a quiet moment, the design supports mental reset and connection—with comfort and creativity at its core.
